Abstract:

Psychological disorders are universally common problems. Social support contributes much to the health of individuals. Focusing upon social support and upon vicissitudes of life can help prevent the depression-induced disorders. The present paper investigated the relationship between Perceived social support, depression and Perceived Stress in university students. The descriptive-analytical study was carried out on 390 students living in Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sceince campus, whom were selected based on a simple random selection method. The related questionnaires of multidimensional scales of Perceived social support, Beck’s depression, and Perceived Stress then were distributed during midterm among students to collect the necessary data. Data was fed into SPSS 16 and analysed using ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, independent t-test, Chi-square, and Fisher exact test. Our results indicated that 49.7 per cent of students suffered from specific degrees of depression. 30.5 per cent of students had given educational progress and employment as sources of Stress in living in the campus. The Perceived social support scores were 28.32±9.56, depression, 12.10±9.02, and for Perceived Stress was 26.84±8.27. A significant relationship was shown to be between Perceived social support, depression, and Perceived Stress (p<0.001) The conclusion made in the paper is that considering depression and Stress is crucial to the health of the students. Also, forming workgroups to increase social support for students can help alleviates depression and Stress in university students.

Abstract:

Background and Objective: Vitiligo is a complex skin disorder that manifests itself with colorless spots caused by the destruction of melanocytes and causes psychological disorders in patients. The aim of this study is to investigate the level of Perceived Stress in vitiligo patients compared to the control group. Methods: This case-control study was conducted in Razi Hospital affiliated to Tehran University of Medical Sciences from August 2020 to February 2021. 87 vitiligo patients with definite diagnosis (case group) and 130 patients with other skin diseases not related to psychosomatic factors (control group) were selected via convenience sampling and compared with each other in terms of the level of current Perceived Stress. In this study, the Perceived Stress was the dependent variable, the clinical type of the disease and the location of the lesion were the independent variables, and the demographic characteristics of the patients were the background variables. The data were collected and compared using a standard questionnaire of Perceived Stress in which the range of scores is between 0 and 40. Findings: The average Perceived Stress in vitiligo patients (19.17±6.24) was higher than other skin patients (16.75±6.96), which was significant by controlling the effect of background variables (Coef.=1.98, CI=0.21-3.75, p=0.02). There was no significant relationship between Perceived Stress and clinical type and duration of vitiligo. Only the occurrence of genital lesions was related to Stress experience (p=0.01). Moreover, with the increase in the level of education, the level of Stress in patients decreased (p=0.01). Conclusion: According to the findings of the present study, suffering from vitiligo can lead to increased Stress in patients. Since Stress leads to negative effects on resilience and the quantity and quality of the treatment period in various diseases, it is necessary to pay attention to the significance of counseling and psychological support in the treatment plan of vitiligo patients.

Abstract:

Objectives: Women have a vital role in knowledge-based economy and in recent years, Iran has experienced a considerable attendance of women in public and private organizations. Organizations have to paved the way for woman if they want to have a productive manpower. One of the most important problems in organizations is organizational bullying that led to Stress. Unfortunately, workplace bullying is a reality in today's organizations and it has been estimated that two percent of all employees have experienced bullying. Bullying have a negative affect on self esteem, physical health and emotional health. These climate cause absence and turnover. In this article we investigate the correlation between bullying and Stress in women.Method: The sample includes 285 women in Tehran University. To collect data for the research questionnaire have been used. The questionnaire contains 25 questions to evaluate female Stress and 28 questions for evaluating bullying based on Likert scale as 1- strongly agree, 2-agree, 3- neither agree nor disagree, 4-disagree, 5- strongly disagree. 285 out of 300 questionnaires were handed back and thus used in analysis. To check the validity of the questions we have used specialist, professors and experts' opinion to make sure that the questions are simple and clear enough. Also to determine the reliability of items, 30 questionnaires were distributed and completed as pretest. Cronbach's Alpha shows the reliability of items is trustable. Factor analysis and spearman correlation coefficient was used to analysis the data.Findings: The findings revealed the role of Stress in workplace and provide some suggestions in order to decreasing it. To analyze the data SPSS version 15 software was used. The findings of the correlation text demonstrate the negative relationship between organizational bullying and Stress. Results: It seems that women aren't familiar with their rights in workplace and don't care it thus these factors cause a passive position in women. The comparison of finding of this article with the other research exhibits a big contradiction that make some explanations. The most important of these differences is the social consciousness of women in Iran. Another significant factor that brings sence is the social norm which affect the socialization process in familiad institutions. Social perception of women affect the meaning of social reality in the eyes of Iranian. Women the matter of organizational bullying is different from the perceptions of western women. The training of necessary skills in social everyday life, preventing job family conflict, reinforcing the self confidence of female, regulating code of ethics and punishing the violence and bullying may reduce the organizational bullying and promote the organization health. One of the significant factor in reducing the frequency and intensity of bullying in organization is the leadership style of their managers. When the dominant leadership style in the organization would be dictatorship or autocratic leadership style, the violence and bullying could increase. The social support has a significant role in reducing the Stress and the supportive leadership style can improve the condition for individual and groups. Thus it is recommended to use these solutions in order to reducing bullying in organizations.

Abstract:

Background: Infertility can lead to major bio-psychological disorders. Coping strategies helpindividuals adapt to unpredictable conditions in a systematic way. The present study aimed todetermine the Perceived Stress of couples undergoing treatment for infertility, as well as theircoping strategies and correlation between the studied variables and gender. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study conducted on 140 infertile couples undergoinginfertility treatment at the Infertility Center of Yazd, Yazd City, Iran. The relevant data werecollected by Perceived Stress Scale and Billings and Moos’ s Coping Responses Inventory. Then, the obtained data were analyzed by descriptive statistics (relative frequency percentage, meanand standard deviation), Pearson correlation coefficient and regression analysis in SPSS. Results: The obtained results suggest that the mean score of Perceived Stress is higher in women. Moreover, women more frequently use problem-focused mechanisms, while men more frequentlyuse emotion-focused mechanisms. In both men and women, a positive significant relationshipexist between positive Perceived Stress and coping mechanisms; the former predicted the latter. While, the mean scores for avoidant and behavioral coping mechanisms were higher in men, the mean scores for cognitive coping mechanisms were higher in women (P<0. 05). However, women achieved higher scores for both problem-focused and emotion-focused strategies. Conclusion: there is a significant and positive correlation between Perceived Stress and copingmechanisms in both sexes. In addition, Stress predicts the kind of coping strategies in thesepeople. On the whole, psychiatric approach and counseling may enhance the mental health ofinfertile couples and increase the chance of success in this costly treatment.
